Boston man suing Patriot Front for July 2022 assault allowed to serve leader by email

It has been so hard to find and serve the leader of the Patriot Front with a lawsuit related to an assault on a black man in front of Boston Public Library last year that the federal judge assigned to the case has allowed the plaintiff to use email or social media to serve the papers.Charles Murrell III was the Boston man who graced the cover of the Herald in July of last year as he was surrounded by blue polo shirt- and khaki pants-clad members of the Patriot Front, which the Southern Poverty Law Center describes as a “white nationalist hate group,” as they held an impromptu march through downtown Boston that took authorities by surprise.Murrell in August filed a lawsuit asserting he was assaulted by members of the group in a “coordinated, brutal, and racially motivated attack.”A filing last week reveals that attempts to serve the group’s leader, Thomas Rousseau, at multiple Texas addresses have failed, prompting Murrell to ask to be able to serve Rousseau and the group elect...

WEYMOUTH — Whenever the postseason rolls around, teams have to be ready for just about every challenge. While Weymouth’s boys soccer program sustained a series of punches Thursday night, the Wildcats were able to survive and advance.Sophomore Mason Fasoli sniped a tally to open play before junior midfielder Cameron Walty clinched things with an insurance goal in the second half, as fifth-seeded Weymouth advanced to the Elite Eight with a 2-0 shutout of No. 12 Brockton in the Div. 1 tournament.“That was our mindset going in,” said Weymouth coach Bill McEachern. “Defend first. We knew how dangerous they were going forward, so we tried to absorb that pressure and look to counter. We knew that if we had chances early, we were going to capitalize.”While Brockton (12-4-2) controlled the pace of play, Weymouth (14-3-4) was opportunistic with its chances, and the Wildcats didn’t need much time to get on the scoreboard. Just seven minutes in, senior captain Joe Looney punted a pass upfield. T...

It revolutionized superhero and blockbuster cinema, leading to some of the biggest box office returns and fanbases out there. Was the hire of Craig Counsell only the start of a big Cubs' offseason?

Ryan Herrera of CHGO joins "9 Good Minutes" from the MLB general managers meetings in Arizona to discuss the Cubs' offseason on WGN News Now.CHICAGO — The talk of Scottsdale this week was with the Cubs, and they've yet to sign a free agent. That was due to their shocking move with their managerial position, and if the chatter at the Major League Baseball General Manager meetings holds any weight, Jed Hoyer and Carter Hawkins are far from done. Cubs fans along with the rest of baseball were caught off guard on Monday when the team fired manager David Ross and replaced him with Brewers skipper Craig Counsell, easily the most coveted at that position this offseason. It signals the franchise's unwillingness to accept the finish of 2023 that cost them a playoff spot while indicating their desire to be among the league's elite again. Perhaps the team will assert that further in free agency, where the team is reportedly in on a number of high-level free agents.Could that include a major ru...
