The crucial role of air defence in Ukraine

The crucial role of air defence in Ukraine Ukraine is effectively shooting down Russian missiles with the help of Western air defence systems, Dispatches, IFBG.On the evening of 26 July, the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out one of the largest missile attacks on Ukraine. Three Kalibr ballistic missiles and 33 X-101/X-555 ballistic missiles were used. In addition, 4 hypersonic missile systems X-47 "Kinzhal" flew in the direction of the airfield in Starokonstantinov in Khmelnytskyi region. All the above missiles and 8 Iranian Shahed-136 drones were destroyed by air defence systems. This is the best proof that the Ukrainian army effectively uses modern air defence systems. Their shortage will cause casualties and destruction, which is especially relevant given the imminent missile strikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces against Ukraine's energy infrastructure as we prepare for the onset of colder weather.Four Russian Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles, which Russian propaganda claims "have no analogues", were shot down in Khmeln...

Stock market today: Asia shares gain after Wall St rally as investors pin hopes on China stimulus BANGKOK (AP) — Shares were mostly higher in Asia on Monday after Wall Street got back to climbing following more encouraging profit reports and the latest signal that inflation is loosening its chokehold on the economy.Sentiment also has been boosted by revived hopes for more stimulus from Beijing for the sluggish Chinese economy. Chinese factory activity contracted in July as export orders shrank, a survey showed, adding to pressure on the ruling Communist Party to reverse an economic slowdown.A purchasing managers’ index issued by the national statistics agency and an industry group improved to 49.3 from June’s 49 on a 100-point scale but was below the 50-point level that shows activity contracting.“The PMI surveys suggest that China’s economic recovery continued to lose momentum in July,” Julian Evans-Pritchard of Capital Economics said in a commentary. “Looking forward, policy support is needed to prevent China’s economy from slipping into a recession, not least because external...

Orioles jump on Yankees early for 9-3 win in Sunday night spotlight, claim season series for first time since 2016 Much of the Orioles’ rebuild was spent out of the national spotlight, though that’s likely where they preferred their frequent defeats, the all-too-common games where the opposing team put them in an insurmountable hole.On Sunday, they returned the favor to one of the frequent deliverers of those challenging nights, beating the New York Yankees, 9-3, in front of a national audience on ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball.” The last time Camden Yards hosted a “Sunday Night Baseball” was on Aug. 26, 2018, one of the many defeats in a four-year span in which they lost 36 more games than any other organization. But Baltimore (64-41) has come out the other side as one of baseball’s best teams. By winning Sunday, the Orioles claimed the season series against the Yankees for the first time since 2016, the season of their most recent playoff berth. They’re positioned to end that drought, leading the Tampa Bay Rays by 1 1/2 games in the American ...

Luis Severino regresses on the mound as Orioles crush Yankees’ righty BALTIMORE — The Yankees hoped that Luis Severino had figured things out.The right-hander, following an abysmal seven-start stretch, showed notable improvement in his last two outings. While the most recent, a 5.2-inning, three-run start against the Royals wasn’t spotless, the optimistic outlook was that Severino had strung together some performances to build on after allowing 33 earned runs over 31.1 innings between June 2 and July 6.But whatever foundation Severino had laid came crashing to the ground Sunday at Camden Yards, where the first-place Orioles obliterated the former Cy Young finalist in a 9-3 victory that also cemented a series win.Baltimore jumped Severino as soon as he took the mound, beginning the game with two singles before Anthony Santander started the scoring with an RBI double. Ryan O’Hearn immediately followed with a two-run double before Adam Frazier drilled a three-run homer. With Severino searching yet again, the Orioles had themselves a 6-0 ...
